For production lines currently using infrared (IR), hot-air, or other conventional thermal drying methods, LECI provides complete retrofit solutions that integrate UV curing technology into existing printing presses.
Unlike conventional thermal drying, UV curing polymerizes UV-curable inks and coatings almost instantly after exposure to ultraviolet energy. This significantly reduces curing time, shortens production cycles, increases press speed, and minimizes common print defects such as smudging, blocking, and surface scratching.
Retrofitting with UV curing technology also improves ink adhesion, gloss, color consistency, and surface durability while enabling printing on a wider range of substrates using UV-curable inks, varnishes, and coatings.
Every retrofit project is engineered according to the customer's existing press configuration and production requirements. Parameters such as UV power, curing width, lamp positioning, cooling, exhaust ventilation, and control systems are carefully designed to ensure seamless integration with the existing production line.

For printing presses equipped with conventional mercury UV curing systems, LECI provides complete retrofit solutions to convert existing systems to high-performance UV LED curing technology.
Unlike conventional mercury lamps, UV LED systems require virtually no warm-up or cool-down time and can be switched on or off instantly. The LEDs operate only when curing is required, significantly reducing energy consumption and eliminating unnecessary power usage during idle machine operation.
UV LED technology also generates substantially less heat, making it ideal for heat-sensitive substrates such as films, labels, thin paper, and various synthetic materials. Longer service life, reduced maintenance requirements, and mercury-free operation further contribute to lower operating costs and improved environmental sustainability.
However, retrofitting a conventional mercury UV system to UV LED involves far more than simply replacing the light source. Successful implementation requires careful evaluation of LED wavelength, irradiance, working distance, press speed, ink chemistry, and substrate characteristics.
